Insanally begins two-day visit to Venezuela today

Minister of Foreign Affairs Rudy Insanally is scheduled to pay an official visit to Venezuela today and tomorrow at the invitation of his counterpart, Roy Chaderton.
A release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry yesterday said that the visit follows one here in February this year of the then Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Luis Alfonso Davila Garcia for the convening of the Second Meeting of the Guyana/Venezuela High Level Bilateral Commission.
On that occasion the subcommittees on trade and economic cooperation, political consultations, consular matters, culture and transportation were convened.
During the visit, the release further said, the 2nd meetings of the subcommittees on trade and economic cooperation and environment and the inaugural meeting on agriculture will be convened with the objective of advancing the programme of functional and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Discussions will also be held on issues of mutual concern at the bilateral and multilateral levels including the Good Officer process on the border controversy, a review of the remaining sub-committees under the High Level Bilateral Commission, the Caracas Energy Cooperation Agreement and multilateral issues including the Free Trade Area of the Americas, the Treaty of Amazonion Cooperation, the Association of Caribbean States and the G77.
Insanally is expected to pay courtesy calls on other high officials of the Venezuelan government, the release added.
