Braithwaite, Harris due today

Guyana's two current world boxing champions Wayne 'Big Truck' Braithwaite and 'Vicious' Vivian will arrive home this morning to an expected hero's welcome.
Braithwaite and Harris are scheduled to arrive at around 7 a.m. on a North American Airlines flight. Harris will be in Guyana for one week while Braithwaite will be on a three-week vacation.
Acting Minister of Sport Dale Bisnauth is expected to head the list of officials at Timehri to greet the boxers. After arrival the champions will join a motorcade to the City Hall for a civic reception beginning at 10 a.m.
A luncheon will be held at the Georgetown Club from 12 p.m. Tomorrow evening the government will host a reception at the Umana Yana. On Saturday the fighters travel to Linden to be hosted by the Regional Chairman.
The Guyana Boxing Board of Control has planned a cocktail reception at Cara Inn on Saturday evening. On Sunday at 3 p.m. the two meet with sportsmen and women at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall which will be followed by a cultural extravaganza at the National Park.
The Ministry of Tourism has arranged a tour of Bartica for Monday. The Plaisance Organising Committee has planned a welcome home for Tuesday. Hotel Tower has provided accommodation for the champions. (Steve Ninvalle)
