The Norwegian man who is rowing from Portugal to Guyana in a small boat is less than 76 miles from Georgetown and is scheduled to make land this weekend.
Norwegian Stein Hoff had, up to Tuesday, rowed 4252 miles (3695 nautical miles) in his boat, the Star Atlantic 2, which left Lisbon, Portugal on August 10 en route to Georgetown, in a one-man voyage of endurance. This non-stop mission is solo, without any support vessels or outside assistance.
Hoff’s wife and mother are due to arrive in the country today to welcome him on his arrival. Through his website, Stein said that on Saturday, while 157 nautical miles away from Georgetown, he listened to the University of Guyana’s 36th convocation ceremony on the ‘Voice of Guyana’.
