After seven hours of discussions yesterday, the talks on the crime communiqué between representatives of the government and the parliamentary political parties under the chairmanship of the Social Partners were last night adjourned to Monday.
After the meeting, the spokesperson for the Social Partners, Dr Peter deGroot told reporters that “a small amount of progress was made”.
He said that the difficulty is that the situation has changed since the Social Partners document was formulated two months ago and the measures included were to address what was then an emergency situation. The changed situation, he said, now presents significant problems in finalising the document.
None of the participants, tired and sleepy after another marathon session, offered any comment and referred questions to Dr deGroot.
