The PNCR has said that it will not allow the chance discovery of a cache of arms in a vehicle with three men including a policeman at Good Hope last week to be covered up and the evidence to disappear.
Reading from a prepared text, PNCR Chairman Robert Corbin said yesterday at a press conference that the party will not allow the matter to be swept under the carpet as had happened in the case of a man called `Beast’ on the East Coast Demerara who had the cache of weapons returned to him and efforts to prosecute him frustrated.
Recent events still unfolding after the discovery of the cache of arms, he said, confirms the party’s fears and suspicions that there exist in Guyana “death squads operating both within and without the ambit of the law enforcement agencies”.
The three men held with the arms were taken into custody and subsequently released on bail.
