The sixteen-year-old student who recently assaulted a teacher of North Georgetown Secondary School was yesterday allowed to go home after he apologised and compensated the complainant.
He also got a warning from acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen.
The student's family offered to compensate the teacher and bring closure to the matter. The teacher, Kerry Baynes, told the court he wanted the boy to be warned, to apologise and pay $20,000 in compensation.
The boy, an ex-student of the school, had assaulted Baynes on December 12 after the school's Christmas party, dealing him several blows to the body.
