President extends condolences on Hoyte’s passing

President Bharrat Jagdeo, on behalf of the Government and all Guyanese, has expressed sincere condolences to Mrs Joyce Hoyte and the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R) on the passing yesterday of Hugh Desmond Hoyte, MP, SC.
An Office of the President (OP) press release yesterday said the President “has directed that all appropriate measures in respect of the former Executive President of Guyana be carried out by the State and his Government. In this regard, His Excellency has ordered that all flags be flown at half-mast [today].”
The release said further that on hearing the news of Hoyte’s death, Jagdeo spoke with PNC/R Chairman, Robert Corbin and requested that his deepest sympathy be conveyed to the party’s leadership, members and supporters.
The President has also reaffirmed the commitment of the State to honour the former Executive President of Guyana, the release said. It added that Jagdeo shares this moment of grief with the family of Hoyte, the PNC/R and all Guyanese.
