Acting Minister of Sport, Dr Dale Bisnauth, handed over the cheques for the first, second, third and fourth places, at the ministry in Main Street.
The government sponsored the top places in the tournament, expanding on the input that started in 1998.
Minister Bisnauth thanked the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation for promotion of this tournament.
“Your effort and initiative go a long way in making football popular,” Minister Bisnauth said.
The minister also congratulated all the teams that participated in the annual championship, particularly the winners Fruta Conquerors.
“They demonstrated that they are conquerors indeed,” Minister Bisnauth said.
Director of the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation, Aubrey Major, thanked the government for their involvement.
Conquerors received a cheque for half a million dollars, while another $100 000 in gear will go to the club for the first prize of $600 000.
Second-placers Western Tigers got a cheque for $280 000 and balls amounting to $20 000 for a total prize of $300 000.
Camptown in the third slot, were presented with a flat $200 000 and Santos $100 000.
Trophies, replicas and the symbolic cheques were handed over just after the New Year’s Day final at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
