The Prime Minister, acting on recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Broadcasting (ACB), had ordered, last December 20, that the licences of Channels Six and Nine be suspended for 48 hours.
But C.N.Sharma and Blackman & Sons Incorporated, owners of the stations, moved against the edict, citing the Attorney General, the Prime Minister and ACB members Pat Dial, Ron Case and Carlton James.
As a result, the same judge issued an order nisi, calling upon the defendants to show cause why the decision to suspend the broadcasts should not be quashed.
Meantime, following that grant, to attorney-at-law Mr Nigel Hughes, the stations are continuing to broadcast as the Prime Minister's sanction has been stayed until the hearing and determination of the matter.
