She said she was home alone shortly after noon when men broke into the house at 55 Earl's Court, La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara.
Not seeing anyone inside, the thieves proceeded to ransack the two-flat building and packed microwave ovens, a television set, a DVD player, a CD player, a music system, a computer system and other items in a corner of the lower flat.
The men had apparently sneaked up on foot to the house and after successfully breaking in and packed household appliances, other items and foodstuff, left the premises to get a vehicle to transport their loot.
Trim said that after the men broke into the house, she locked herself in her bedroom in the upper flat and hid in a closet with her cordless telephone in hand.
BOOTY: part of the loot the bandits had put aside in a corner.
She said she was on the phone with a friend when she heard someone trying to open a door on the lower flat of the building around 12:15 hrs.
The visibly shaken woman told the Chronicle shortly after the incident that she informed the friend that someone was trying to break into her home and that he should call neighbours and the Police to tell them about what was happening, and that she was in the building hiding.
"All the time I dey hiding in the closet. I heard everything but I just couldn't see anything.
"I hearing like about 20 people running in the house, but apparently was only two of them; they had on heavy boots," Trim told this newspaper.
The Police turned up about an hour after the incident and began investigations.
The bandits apparently did not get to carry away anything.
One of them even left a shirt behind.
