Meanwhile the Police issued a statement on the use of the word ‘confrontation’ made in a previous release.

The statement said: “the Guyana Police Force refers to a press release on Saturday, March 01, 2003 and wishes to state that the Force later recognised that the use of the word ‘confrontation’ may not have aptly reflected the incident that occurred.

According to the Police “this is the fundamental reason why, on many occasions, we are hesitant in issuing releases immediately after the event unless we have ascertained sufficient details.”

The release added that investigation is moving apace and called on all citizens to be patient and exhibit the necessary request for due process.

Post mortem is scheduled for today and the funeral is fixed for Saturday.
