WOMEN Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) says it will today move its weekly Wednesday demonstration from the cenotaph to the corner of Sheriff and Bonasika Streets as a mark of respect and in support of the action taken by the students of the University of Guyana, against the brutal slaughter of Yohance Douglas and the injury of his friends.

“Since Women Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) began a few weeks ago, it has condemned the escalating violence and fear plaguing Guyana. As a partnership of women, irrespective of race, age, political persuasion, religious or income levels, WAVE has reached out to several segments of the society plagued by violence in an attempt to start the process of finding meaningful solutions to our problems,” a release from WAVE said.

The organisation is also appealing for the support of all sections of society, especially men, who are an important and necessary part of the solution, WAVE said.
