A crew of eight persons from the Venus Ocean Star arrived in Guyana from St. Lucia on a mission to enlighten the Guyanese public about this new initiative.
The adventurous package, available in 14 and 17 days trips, will include sailing to Guyana from St. Lucia on a 61-ft yacht and exploring Guyana’s wilderness. The cruise costs US$3 000 to US $4,500 per person.
According to Co-Chairman of Cara Hotels, Paul Stephenson the, the promoters received an overwhelming response in Berlin, and they are currently exploring markets in Australia, Europe and USA.
When asked why Guyana was chosen as a tourist destination, Stephenson said that a country as beautiful as Guyana should have a place on the international market and that is their main aim.
Also, from the initiative jobs will be created and there will be an increase in revenue for the country, Stephenson pointed out.
He explained that the Essequibo River was chosen because it was very quiet and peaceful with very little traffic.
The tourists are in for a great experience as they will be able to see the world famous Kaieteur Falls, the Pakaraima Mountains and Iwokrama. They will also get a glimpse of the capital City’s rich historic architectural structures.
The Venus Ocean Star, which is about one year old, was build to accommodate six persons and a crew of two.
The yacht has an ample and functional bathroom with shower, and the luxurious interior has plenty of storage compartments. It is also fully air-conditioned.
Persons also have the option of flying or sailing back to St. Lucia prior to departure for their homes. Guyanese who wish to sail to other countries can also do so when the cruise ship docks in Guyana.
