He made the acknowledgement during a meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing last Thursday while on his current state visit to China.
During their discussions they noted with satisfaction the firm ties of friendship which had been forged between Guyana and China over the last three decades.
A meeting was held with the Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Mr. Wu Bangguo during which the opportunity was taken to exchange views on matters pertaining to governance.
President Jagdeo also had discussions with the President of the Import/Export Bank of China and representatives of companies involved in hydropower and the construction of bridges.
The President and his delegation departed Beijing on March 28, for visits to Guangzhou, Fuzhou and Shanghai.
President Jagdeo’s state visit concludes next Wednesday.
