The Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) gym produced the individual prizewinners, with Michael Jordan, who like gym-mate Murray is an Under-16 boxer, won the Most Improved Boxer trophy while former Caribbean amateur champion Siebert Blake won the coaches’ prize.
Some 14 bouts were staged in the finals, which began at the scheduled time, so much so that boxers for the opening bout were late and the organisers went straight to the second card, starting a night of exciting bouts.
Sherwin Younge of Harpy Eagles then secured a unanimous decision over Delon Charles of FYF.
The next bout was a close affair, with Kelvin Allicock (FYF) eventually triumphing over Ron Collins (Harpy) with a 3-2 majority decision. Another split decision followed for the Jermaine Gomes/Dexter Gonsalves fight, both of FYF. Gonsalves won 4-1.
Then Murray out-boxed Shemrick Peters (One Mile) for an easy unanimous decision, a repeat of his performance in the first night of championships staged in Linden, last month.
Dexter Jordon (FYF) won the close encounter with Kellon Peters (One Mile), with the shorter Jordan landing some good shots to head during toe-to-toe exchanges in the first two rounds. Peters used his reach in the third and final round to get in solid headshots but in the end Jordan got the 3-2 decision.
Simeon Handy (FYF) secured victory within the first round, peppering Harvey Mattis (One Mile) with solid lefts and rights to head and body, forcing the referee to stop the contest.
A unanimous decision went to Michael Jordan after he charged Raul Joseph (Harpy) from round one with constant shots to head with left-right combinations. He even got in some body shots.
Dennis Thomas (Harpy) connected a left to head and Owen Lord (One Mile) was counted early in the first round. Another shot to head and again Lord was counted, then the referee stopped the contest.
Midway through the second round Quincy Miller (One Mile) became tired and could not continue after rushing Quacy Craig (FYF) with some crazy shots and the referee counted him before he retired. In the first round, Craig connected with an upper cut to head and Miller was counted. Craig landed a solid right to head and Miller ran away.
Ryan Franker (Harpy) got a 4-1 decision over gym-mate Jamal Cozier. In the first round, the southpaw Cozier got in some good lefts to head, but Franker countered nicely. Frank also adopted the southpaw style in round two to land left-right combinations to head.
Then Ray Sandiford (FYF) and Kelice Ross (FYF) who were due to fight in the first bout, took the ring. Ross attacked Sandiford who kept him out with solid rights to the head followed by overhand lefts. Ross was counted twice, once in the first round and in the third, after toe-to-toe exchanges. Sandiford got the 4-1 decision.
Joel McRae (FYF) got a unanimous decision over Leon Fraser (Harpy), scoring with nice solid jabs to head, followed by straight rights. Fraser was counted in the second round.
Another unanimous decision went to Yusuf Ali (FYF) over Jermaine King (Harpy), after brisk exchanges, with Ali getting in some good shots to head and King being counted in the first round.
The final bout was a toe-to-toe affair from the first gong between Jamal Handy (One Mile) and Stephen Gouveia (Harpy). Eventually Handy got the unanimous decision.
