THE Police are continuing their investigations into the gruesome discovery of the body of Roy Joshua Bell, 16, a student of the School of the Nations, and of 178 Sun Flower Circle, South Ruimveldt Park. Bell’s battered body was found dumped on the Pattenson/Turkeyen Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) at around 22:30 hrs on Monday.

Sources yesterday told the Chronicle that while the Police have no positive lead, there are indications that a few areas will need closer examination.

Bell was reportedly abducted on Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the Stabroek Market, where he had gone to see a female friend home.

Following his abduction, Bell’s captors made contact with his relatives by telephone and demanded a $10M ransom.

The teenager’s father, Ferguson Bell, who has a mining operation in the interior, travelled to the city on hearing the news, and managed to obtain a portion of the requested sum.

On the instruction of the abductors, a relative drove to a certain location on Monday evening and left the ransom money along with the car and keys.

Later the said night, the body with the lad’s mouth gagged, was discovered.

A black suitcase was found atop the body, which bore marks of violence. A pair of `Nike’ sneakers was nearby.

Relatives later identified the body as that of Roy Joshua Bell.

The murdered lad leaves to mourn his parents, two brothers and a sister.

The abduction of young Bell was the third kidnapping within days.

The others involved Deo Basdeo, a resident of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, who was kidnapped on Friday morning and Chief Security Officer at the United States Embassy, Steve Lesniak, who was taken captive the next morning as he played golf at the Lusignan Golf Course.
