This celebration will begin with a weightlifting exhibition on Sunday, on the tarmac of the seawalls from 16:00 hrs and continuing on each of the remaining Sundays.

Other activities include the National Junior championships on Monday, May 26, at the Uitvlugt Community Centre, West Bank Demerara.

Radio and television programmes aimed at informing and sensitising the public about the sport of weightlifting will also be aired.

The final activity will be a rebroadcast of the juniors’ championship on May 30.
