The Fellowship, in collaboration with the Linden Ministers Fellowship, churches in Buxton and members of the Christian community across Guyana, will be engaged in a march and prayer rally.
The march is scheduled to commence at 12:00 hrs from the Buxton Community Centre and conclude at the Buxton Railway Embankment with a prayer rally.
The Georgetown Ministers Fellowship, in a press release, stated that over the last three years it has been involved in various activities in Buxton and in an effort to effect community transformation, it is taking its witness beyond church buildings into the streets of the troubled village.
The Christian organisation said that the last prayer encounter was on Good Friday in Linden with the Linden Ministers Fellowship hosting an all night prayer meeting at Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, and marching from there to the bridge connecting Mackenzie and Wismar, which was at the time blocked by protesting Linden residents.
"Christians engaged the leadership of the bridge committee and prayed on the bridge. In just over 24 hours, the bridge was re-opened after weeks of closure," the Georgetown Ministers Fellowship stated.
Members believe that there was a direct correlation between the prayers offered to God and the re-opening of that bridge, and Linden's return to a degree of normalcy, it added.
"Likewise, the Fellowship is expecting that (today's) event and continuous prayers will effect social and spiritual change in Buxton."
The Georgetown Ministers Fellowship is also planning to team up with counterparts for a similar witness in Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne) and has issued an appeal for all Christians to pray for the success of today's initiative and the return of peace, hope, development and growth to the proud community of Buxton.
The Georgetown Ministers Fellowship is comprised of a number of churches including Assemblies of God; Wesleyan; Full Gospel; Brethren; Nazarene; Love and Faith; Faith Miracle Ministries and a number of independent Churches.
It is headed by Pastor Raphael Massiah from the First Assemblies of God Church.
