The vehicle, property of Securicor Guyana Inc., was snared at approximately 20:30 hrs.
According to reports, two men posing as traffic policemen, stopped the vehicle as it passed through the village of Mahaica, some twenty five miles from Georgetown.
The men, attired as traffic cops, pretended that they were conducting routine checks for the relevant documents for the vehicle.
While the armoured personnel were engaged with the two men, seven others emerged from hiding, all armed with long guns, and held them up at gun point.
The men were concealed in bushes along the side of the road waiting for the precise moment to strike.
They then held up Securicor security and carted off with an undisclosed sum of money and making good their escape.
No shots were reportedly fired during the ambush/heist operation.
Up to press time there were no reports of any of the bandits having been apprehended.
