158 persons died in road accidents in 2002, slightly lower than the 161 killed in 2001.
The last two deaths occurred on Tuesday at Unity, East Coast Demerara. Vibert Goberdhan of Vryhied's Lust, ECD and an unidentified female were killed when the minibus in which they were travelling collided with a truck. Several other persons were injured including children.
On Sunday, Colin Berkley and his father, Lionel Berkley died when their minibus ran off the East Coast highway and crashed into a concrete revetment at the turn in front of the Russian Embassy.
