A heart attack has been confirmed as the cause of the death of former President of Guyana and PNCR leader, Desmond Hoyte SC.
Hoyte died suddenly at his North Road, Bourda home on December 22, collapsing as he was climbing the stairs to take a cup of tea to his wife. He died shortly after he had fallen.
Dr Dalgleish Joseph, a member of Hoyte's medical team told Stabroek News yesterday that the former president had suffered from coronary heart disease for some time and it had not been difficult to diagnose the cause of his demise. Dr Joseph was called to the home after Hoyte collapsed but he was already dead when he arrived. Hoyte underwent a coronary by-pass operation in the US in 1993 and travelled there for annual check-ups.
