Architect George Henry dies

Well-known Guyanese architect, George Kenneth Henry died at his Crown Street, Queenstown home on Saturday. He was 73 years old.
Henry founded George Henry and Associates in 1966 and some of his work which dates back to the 1950s, include the Mausoleum for President Forbes Burnham, the Umana Yana, President’s College, the New Ambulatory Care and Diagnostic Centre at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Guyana Printers Limited and Demerara Distillers Limited’s Office building among many others.
The late architect has also worked in several countries outside Guyana including Pakistan, England and the Caribbean where he designed the Hugh Wooding Law School.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Magda and two children: Resource Development Coordinator of Habitat for Humanity Sinikka, Aero-nautical Engineer and Computer Analyst, Wolff and grand-daughter Si-ra Won.
Arrangements are being put in place for Henry to be buried this week.
