Results in for Children Mash Parade Competitions

Results are in for competitions in the Mashramani Children’s costume parade staged at the National Park on Saturday.
Turkeyen Nursery and their costume “A world of Fun” placed first in the nursery bands. St. Agnes and their costume “Peace, Love and Unity” came second; Precious Jewels and “Garden of Unity” third; and Green Acres’ “Unity, Peace and Prosperity” fourth.
In the primary band St. Agnes’ “Aladdin and the wonderful Lamp” came first; St. Stephen’s “Recipe for Peace” second; St. Sidwell’s “United are we in 2003 with the Dutch Lady Milk Family” third; and Mae’s Under 12 “Wishes for a Better Guyana” came fourth.
Marian Academy’s “El Dorado under the Sun” which emerged crowd favourite at the parade took top honours in the secondary band (see photo on centre pages); St. Joseph High’s “Guyana Unity and Splendour” placed second; Sophia Special School “Reach out and embrace our differences and shared goals” third; and Belladrum Secondary’s “Free Guyana” fourth.
Craft Production and Design Division’s “Biting Insect” came first in the other children’s organisations category; the National School of Dance’s “Umbrella Unity” placed second; Hinterland Students Club “Peace, Love & Harmony, Let’s unite our country” third; and Sophia Literacy Programme’s “Be litter Free in 2003” fourth.
In the individual presentation St. Ambrose Primary’s “El Dorado King” came first and its “Queen of Unity” second. Region 8’s “Warbreak” won the regional presentation; Region 2’s “Salute Essequibo for a United Guyana” came second; Region 7’s ‘United and Free in Mash 2003” third; and Region 3’s “Unity from Region Three” fourth.
