WBC cruiserweight champion Wayne “Big Truck” Braithwaite (19-0-16) knocked out WBC

#8, Ravea Springs (25-3-19) at 2:40 of the 4th round to successfully defend his title. In front of a nationally televised ESPN2 audience at the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming, Braithwaite knocked Springs down twice in the fourth round with a big left hand that landed squarely on the temple of Springs. Springs was unable to bring himself back to fighting after the conclusive second knockdown.

That left referee Tommy Kimmons to award the fight to Braithwaite. Springs was no match for the recently crowned champion, who continually pressed throughout the match. With a watchful James Toney looking on, Braitwaite attacked and controlled the bout with his powerful shots to the body and head of his opponent that left Springs with no room to retaliate. It was the big left hand that did most of the damage throughout the fight.
