The two children found dead in an old refrigerator in a Norton street yard last Friday, succumbed to suffocation, autopsies performed on their bodies have revealed.
"[The children] died as a result of asphyxiation due to the lack of air," Police Public Relations Officer David Ramnarine said yesterday.
The bodies of Jamal Codrington, 4, and seven-year-old Jabez Robinson were discovered by Codrington's mother just after 9:30 pm following a frantic search which began the same afternoon.
There had been speculation that some foul play had been involved.
Ramnarine told Stabroek News that "the findings of the autopsies did not reveal any foul play, but the police have questioned a male minor in relation to the incident."
