The executive of the Police Association has condemned the death of Yohance Douglas killed last Saturday as a result of a police shooting.

In a press release the association also expressed its sincere condolences to Douglas’ relatives, friends and associates and wishes the other persons who were wounded a speedy recovery.

The Association says it is cognisant of the grief, pain and trauma now experienced by those who knew the deceased and wounded as a result of this unfortunate and regrettable incident. The body is however happy with the initiative taken by the acting Commissioner of Police to conduct an investigation into the matter.

“It is without doubt that our body is confident that the team selected to carry out such investigation will do so objectively and professionally.

It is our hope that the public including those persons who are directly affected as a result of this incident will exercise some degree of patience and await the outcome of the investigation,” the release states.

The association notes with concern the unfavour-able remarks made against its members recently and wished to point out the body in no way condones wrong doings by its members. “We are always in support of the Force’s Administration in whatever appropriate action taken against members of the Force when they are found committing any wrongdoing.”
