CARICOM's Torch of Unity arrives today

The Torch of Unity which is being relayed around the Caribbean, will arrive in Guyana today as part of the activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said that the torch would arrive in Guyana at 11:00an today, and would be received by a senior government official at the airport to commence the Guyana leg of the relay.
The torch will then be handed over to the relay team who will bring it to the city where it will be handed over to President Bharrat Jagdeo.
According to the release, the relay team will comprise five members of the Guyana Defence Force, twelve members from the Young Entrepreneur Skills Training Programme at Kuru Kuru, and fifteen members from youth and sports clubs.
Tomorrow the relay will begin at Charity in Region Two, where young people from the Esssequibo Coast will take part.
