Guyana's lone world rated heavyweight boxer Andre `Stone' Purlette is claiming that better days are on the horizon. Purlette made the disclosure after stopping American Wade Lewis inside two rounds in Miami just over a week ago.
The fight was televised live on Oscar De La Hoya's HBO Latino network. Purlette said that after the sublime performance his promoters phone has been "running hot".
"My promoter said that he has been receiving many calls since the victory. We should be on to much bigger things from now on," the hard-hitting fighter said."
"We have not decided who is the next opponent but my next fight will be on a major television network. There were a lot of big names in boxing at the fight. I was able to show case my skills and my ability to come back," Purlette said.
The 29-year-old Guyanese said that he was hurt in the first round but was able to clear his head and journey on to his 32nd knock out in 36 fights.
"I have learnt quite a few things since my only defeat. I can hold and I know if I get hurt just what to do," Purlette added. After racking up an unbeaten record in the cruiserweight division Purlette moved up to the more lucrative heavyweight category approximately three years ago. (Steve Ninvalle)
