Officials of the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) will evaluate the existing security arrangements at its East Coast Demerara facility at a meeting scheduled for today.
In an invited comment yesterday, LGC President Mike Brassington told Stabroek News the executive members of the club will meet to review the safety measures for those who utilise the golf course.
The meeting, Brassington noted, is in light of Saturday’s kidnapping on the golf course of the Regional Security Officer (RSO) of the US Embassy, Stephen Lesniak.
This newspaper understands only five watchmen currently guard the location and a few workmen are usually on site.
Lesniak was playing at the location early Saturday morning when two armed teenagers snatched and took him into the crime-ridden village of Buxton, from where he was released later that evening after an intense military operation on the East Coast.
