Christophe new GTTA president

National table tennis coach Sydney Christophe has replaced rice magnate Beni Sankar as president of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA).

According to a GTTA release, Christophe, who served as General Secretary last term, was elected to head the association when the association held its Annual General Meeting at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Sunday.

Sankar did not seek re-election.

Like Sankar, former Commissioner of Police Laurie Lewis also did not seek re-election and his post as senior vice-president has been taken by Owen John.

The position of junior vice-president has been filled by Godfrey Munroe who served as an assistant secretary last term.

He has replaced Linden Morrison who also did not seek re-election.

Joel Wilburg who also served as an assistant secretary last term is the new treasurer.

He replaces Johnette Gonsalves, who resigned the post prior to the AGM.

The new General Secre-tary is Karen Cumberbatch.

The two assistant secretaries are; Linden Johnson and Debbie McKenzie.
