Twenty pairs drawn from across the country are expected to be on show today when the Corentyne South Lions Club stages their Fund Raising Double-Wicket Cricket Competition at the No. 69 Vikings ground, Upper Corentyne, beginning at 9am.

The 20 pairs are expected to include some of Guyana’s top cricketers, among them being Narsingh Deonarine, fresh from his superb unbeaten century against the touring Australians and Guyana’s opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon.

Two pairs from Albion - Imran Khan/Doodnauth Lalbeharry and Hemnarine Harrinarine/Zulfikar Rozan - along with players such as Anil Beharry, Bhim George, Maynard Wilson, Tureshnauth Nakhul, Imran Jaferally, James Hart, Naresh Roopnarine and Kawai Prashad will also be on show.

Three pairs are also expected from Demerara and a pair each from Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant.

Each pair will face two overs.

The winning pair will receive $25,000 while the runners-up will collect $10,000. Several incentives will also be at stake.

Entrance fee for each pair is $500 and admission to the ground is $100.
