One of two men implicated in Monday's murder of Police Constable Lloyd Cameron appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen yesterday on the capital offence of murder.
Twenty-four-year-old Marcello Caldeira of Lot 1884 `B' Field, Sophia, who told the court he is a mason, is accused of the unlawful killing of Con-stable Cameron of Lot 78 Plum Street, South Sophia.
It is alleged that Caldeira and an accomplice murdered Cameron who was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, Eve Leary while he and another officer were leaving for work. Caldeira was reportedly held by the police following the shooting. His alleged accomplice escaped.
Caldeira who was not required to plead to the indictable charge was remanded to prison until May 29 when the preliminary inquiry is set to commence.
