Guyana's de facto junior middleweight boxing champion 'Deadly' Denny Dalton has comforting words for all Guyanese who have travelled to Barbados and received unfavourable [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] treatment at the hands of Barbadian immigration and custom officials.

He intends to deal with the issue in a most unorthodox fashion and if he has his way his compatriots will have trouble-free entry to the Land of the Flying Fish.

When Dalton challenges Barbadian Christopher 'Shaka' Henry in the main bout of a May 24 boxing card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall he plans to put the issue on the front burner.

"After I'm finish with Henry, Bajans wouldn't dare hassle Guyanese no more. I'm going to deal with the issue. I'm going to whip him and send him back to Barbados to spread the word that Guyanese are not to be messed with," Dalton declared.

The two boxers will clash in a 10-round fight on the card promoted by the Guyana Boxing Board of Control.

Dalton confessed he has been waiting for some time to lay hands on Henry, who he claimed was once `mannish' enough to send a challenge to former WBA welterweight champion Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis.

"He has been ducking me all the time. At least five times he has caused fights between us to be postponed. Once he has the guts to come here I'll make sure that I be the judge in the ring. He can't pass round six," Dalton boasted.

The brawny fighter is taking the fight so serious that he has secured the service of local boxing technician Maurice `Bizzy' Boyce, who assisted Wayne `Big Truck' Braithwaite leading up to his world title victory, as trainer.

The Forgotten Youth Foundation in Albouystown is the gym being used for preparation.

"I have never seen Henry fight and I really don't want to either. He will have to be really tough to make it into the sixth round. My intention is to really punish him."

Dalton, who turned professional six years ago, struck a chord on the local boxing scene when he stopped former world rater Michael Benjamin a few years ago.

In organised fury Dalton unleashed an assault on his older opponent which resulted in Benjamin receiving two standing eight counts.

He continued plying the sometimes savage trade and at present has a record of 11 victories against four defeats. Seven of his victories are by knockout.

"We will see how much he wants `Sixhead' after I'm done with him."

Dalton said that his training will intensify next week when `Bizzy' turns on the heat. "I have been training all the time but we will get into serious sparring next week. This is serious business for me. The Bajan is going home with nuff blows," the 28-year-old Dalton promised.

The May 24 card will also feature Guyana's light heavyweight "Strong woman" Gwendolyn `The Stealth Bomber' O'Neil who is scheduled to have a title fight in the main supporting contest.

Dexter Breedy will have a return match with Earl Dean in one of the preliminary fights while Cecil `Koker Dog' Alfred will be featured in a `Down Memory Lane' fight against another `Old Timer'.
