OMEGA NARINE
This soon-to-Be 22-year-old was born to parents expecting a boy to be named `Alpha’. Omega (the last letter of the Greek alphabet) is the oldest of eight children inclusive of five sisters and two brothers. Omega attended the South Ruimveldt Park Primary and the East Ruimveldt Secondary Schools. At the very young age of 18, she was given responsibility for taking care of the household and claimed that this experience caused her to “mature in the wink of an eye”. She is now very attached to her siblings as though they are her own children.

Omega’s favourite subject at school was Spanish and she hopes to pursue a career where she can learn more about Spanish culture. She has her eye on travelling to various countries to pursue this interest.

She describes herself as “kind-hearted” and would like to do her part in helping those less fortunate than herself. She has entered the Pageant as a stepping stone towards achieving her goals.

CAMILLA PATTERSON
At 22 years of age, Camilla is employed with New World Homes, a job which allows her to interact with many persons, something she loves to do. She grew up at Laluni Creek on the Soesdyke Linden Highway, a small community comprising mainly Amerindians and East Indians. She loves climbing trees, swimming and dancing. Camilla enjoys a good laugh.

The youngest of seven siblings, Camilla considers herself a bit `spoiled’. She attended the Laluni Primary School before moving to Georgetown to attend the City College.

Camilla has a strong desire to become a social worker since she would like to help improve people’s lives.

TANNYLEE CHARISE MUNROE
Often described as energetic, sensitive and full of life, Tannylee is an 18-year-old with brown hair and brown eyes, and with a unique blend of African, Amerindian and Portuguese ancestry.

Tanylee loves children and plans to spend her life in their company by becoming a child psychologist. She currently attends The International University Guyana pursuing a Diploma in Psychology.

She describes her life as a simple one, full of laughter, good moments (and bad ones too). Family and friends are important to her and she tries to preserve memories with them in her diary.

Cooking and travelling are some of Tanylee’s favourite activities since they both help her to relax and experience different cultures.

CHELAN KERRY TRISTAN YHAP
Chelan enjoys a rich blend of Chinese and East Indian heritage. Her name is of Chinese origin. It is the translated name of a rare and beautiful Chinese flower. She was brought up in a very strict home and the distinction of law and love was made clear to her from a very young age.

She describes herself as a very competitive individual and is involved in a number of extra-curricula activities including Indian and modern dancing, short-story writing, art and sports. She has won a number of sports awards including Champion Girl at the New Guyana School and was captain of the St. Joseph High volleyball team.

Her role model is her mother and she has worked closely with her as a counsellor of victims of violence. Her aim in life is to touch people’s hearts and enlighten them about making the world a better place. Chelan plans to pursue studies in Sociology, Law and International Relations with the eventual goal of becoming an Economist.

SHUNELLA LA SHAWN ANTHONY
Growing up, Shunella was a typical “tomboy” who never fancied fashion or modelling. Rather, she enjoyed partaking in athletics while at school. She also enjoys reading which she does a lot of in her spare time.

Shunella attended the Cyril Potter College of Education and is currently an English/ Literature teacher at the St. Stanislaus College. She acknowledges her significant role as a teacher and takes her duty very seriously.

Her goal is to attend the University of Guyana to obtain a Degree in Language and later, a Masters in Language.

SUZETTE MARISA SHIM
Tall and stately, Suzette, an employee of the Supreme Court Registry has stepped outside of her box to enter her very first Pageant. Of mainly Chinese and Indian parentage, Suzette is the fourth child for her parents. She was born at 4pm on the fourth day of the week in December 1984.

As a child, she loved school and cried when she couldn’t attend. She loved to climb high places and would always get up and try again when she fell. She has a very close bond with her parents and feels she owes them a debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they made so that she got a good education. She was given complete trust by her parents and cherishes this dearly in every relationship she has.

Suzette describes herself as funny, very emotional, talkative and modest. It was always her dream to become a fashion designer and she sees herself as the CEO of her own company some day.

She is currently pursuing a Management Degree at the University of Guyana and lives by the motto “If we really work hard, we can achieve all that we want”.
