US deports six back to Guyana

Six persons were recently deported to Guyana for various offences; these include two women and four men.

The Criminal Investigation Department issued the particulars of these six men and women on Tuesday to the media.

The details are as follows:

Keevin D'Oliveira, 23, of Lot X8 Durban Street Lodge, Georgetown, was deported from the USA on 2003-08-03 for larceny.

D'Oliveira departed Guyana legally in November 1981 for the United States of America and on 01-04-23 was arrested and charged for larceny.

He appeared in court and was sentenced to one-year imprisonment and upon completion of his jail term; he was released into Immigration custody and deported to Guyana.

Lester Jeffrey Issacs, 29, of Lot 208, Market Street, East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, was deported on 2003-08-06 from the USA for grand theft.

The subject departed Guyana legally on 83-05-20 for the United States of America.

On 2001-07-19, Issacs was arrested and charged for grand theft and subsequently appeared in court and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

After completing some 14 months in prison, he was handed over to the Immigration Department and later deported.

Odilia Isha Peroune, 30, of Lot 11 Turkeyen Old Road, East Coast Demerara was deported to Guyana from the USA for forgery.

Peroune departed Guyana legally in January 1982 for the USA and in 1996; she was arrested and charged with forgery.

She appeared in court and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

Peroune completed 6 months jail term and was released and in January 2003, she was detained by the Immigration and deported on 2003-08-05 to Guyana.

Debbie Ayesha, 40, of Lot 2655 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown was deported from the United States of America for forgery and grand larceny.

Ayesha legally migrated to USA in September 1984 and in October 1995; she was arrested and charged with forgery and grand larceny.

Ayesha appeared in court and was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with 7 years probation.

The subject completed 7 years and was handed over to Immigration and deported on 2003-08-05 from the USA.

Shankar Persaud, 44, of Lot 2 Market Street, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, was deported to Guyana from the United States of America for conspiracy to import narcotics.

Persaud migrated to USA legally on 2000-08-20 and on 2001-04-23; he was arrested and charged with the conspiracy to import narcotics.

He was arrested and appeared in court and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and was released into Immigration custody and deported on 2003-08-14.

Andrew Nathaniel Liddell, 32, of Lot 63 Anira Street, Queenstown, Georgetown was deported to Guyana from the United States of America for possession of narcotics.

Liddell legally departed Guyana in 1976 for the United States of America and in 1992, he was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics.

Liddell appeared in court and was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment with 3 years probation.

However, on completion of 11 months, he was released and in August 1993, he violated his probation and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, but he only served 11 months.

In 1997, Liddell was arrested again and charged with possession of narcotics.

He appeared in court and was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment with five and a half years probation.

He spent 14 months in jail and was released, again on 2001-01-02 he violated his probation and was sentenced to five years in jail, however, he only spent 9 months after which he was handed over to Immigration and deported to Guyana on 2003-08-05.
