Linda Khan, wife of missing businessman of Lethem, will know for sure on Friday whether the body of a man that was discovered in Sao Silvestre, some 80 kilometers from the Boa Vista, capital of the state of Roraima, is indeed that of her husband, Mohammed Khan.
On Friday the DNA results will be handed over to Khan's family.

The grieving woman told the Guyana Chronicle that she is prepared to accept the result of the DNA test and she believes that he was killed and if the remains are that of her husband she will transport the skeletal remains to be buried in Lethem.

She recalled that when she first met Khan they were both teachers who were dispatched to the Rupununi and their marriage lasted some 30 years and that relationship produced three children.

Linda related that it has been a very difficult time for the family and as time goes by their worst fears may come true.

"If the DNA result proves that it is my husband's body I will gave him a proper funeral and I know he would want to be buried in Lethem because he lived here most of his life," said the woman.

Khan was abducted on June 22 by a group of Brazilian policemen while he was en route to Boa Vista on business.

His abductors had demanded $5M for his safe return.

Four paid policemen are still in police custody pending investigations.

The officers were reportedly involved in 25 different offences, including homicide.

Linda, her daughter and her son-in-law visited Brazil and was part of a closed-door court accompanied by her lawyer earlier last month.

While there they were read statements in the Boa Vista court and learnt that Mohamed Khan was abducted, robbed and killed.

She said that 20 days ago doctors took blood samples and they are awaiting a DNA report by this month end to determine whether the skeletal remains that were discovered in Brazil was indeed that of her husband.

"The remains that were discovered in Brazil where several personal effects were found near the body almost convinced me that it was my husband's but we received word that he was spotted on a farm near the Takutu River bordering Guyana and Brazil but several searches also proved futile at that point I had hope that he was still alive but now I think that he was killed," said Linda Khan yesterday during an interview.

"We want to know the truth, what happened to him and why because after all this time we still don't know anything for sure and everyone is still in much grief and pain," said Natasha Macedo, Khan's daughter.

Mohamed Khan was described as the pillar of his community where he operates several businesses and was the President of the Rupununi Chambers of Commerce.
