Defence Counsel Bernard De Santos and Compton Richard-son cross-examined two of the prosecution’s witnesses as the preliminary inquiry into the death of Yohance Douglas continued before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen yesterday.

Corporal Eon Jackson, an expert in the field of firearms and ammunition was cross-examined by Richardson while De Santos cross-examined police constable Max-well Grant.

Grant who is attached to the Tactical Services Unit’s Fountain Base was called to testify in the absence of police officer Simmone Reid. The hearing continues on July 15.

Police officers Mahendra Baijnauth and Gerald Alonzo were charged on March 28 for the murder of University of Guyana student Yohance Douglas. Senior counsel De Santos is appearing on Baijnauth’s behalf while Compton Richardson is representing Alonzo.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Jo Ann Barlow is appearing on the prosecution’s behalf in association with Candace Raphael, also of the DPP chambers.
