The Preliminary Inquiry into the charges against Nazir Hamid and Yusuf Rahaman, the two men jointly charged for the murder of 14-year-old orphan Raheem Abdool, continued on Monday with the testimony of pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Singh, who took the stand when the hearing continued before Senior Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, completed his testimony and was subject to cross-examination by attorney for the men, Vic Puran. State attorneys Paula Gilford and Simone Bullen make up the prosecution.
After Singh, Abdool’s cousin Khanai Bipat resumed on the stand and concluded his testimony. He was followed by Detective Constable 18295 Anantram Jagnandan, who was recalled and subjected to a brief cross-examination after completing his testimony.
Hamid, the former acting CEO of the Shaheed (Sad’r) Boys Orphanage and his employee Rahaman, called `Kenneth,’ are jointly charged for the murder of Abdool, who resided in the orphanage until his death.
The hearing is to continue next Tuesday.
