Shares of Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC) were the most traded on the floor of the Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Intermediaries Inc. (GASCI) yesterday in what can be described as a relatively busy day’s trading.
At the first session of the new month, 184,540 shares were traded on the exchange with the total value of those shares being $3,182,630.
A total of 51,400 DTC shares traded for a total consideration of $2,158,800. These shares fetched a price of $42.00.
Some 68,600 shares in Banks DIH Limited traded at prices ranging between $6.70 and $7.00. Banks’ shares had a total consideration of $465,679.70.
A total of 57,790 shares of the Demerara Distillers Limited traded at prices ranging between $7.00 and $7.50 with a total value of those shares being $415,650.
Shares of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) - 2,750 in all - traded at $30.00 each with the total value of those shares being $82.500.
A total of 4,000 shares of the National Bank of Industry and Commerce, with a value of $60,000 exchanged hands at a price of $15.00 each.
Orders remaining on the books for the next trading session are 5,844,000 Banks DIH shares at a best offer (best price at which one is prepared to sell) of $6.70, while 44,000 DTC shares remain at a best offer of $42.00. NBIC had 25,000 of its shares being offered at a best offer of $15.00; 6,000 shares of GBTI are being offered at $30.00, and 525,000 shares of DDL offered at $7.00.
Bids remaining for the next session are 600,000 shares of the Demerara Bank Limited with a best bid (best price at which one is prepared to buy) of $1.20 and 104,000 shares of Citizens Bank with a best bid of $13.00.
Bids remain for 20,000 DTC shares at a best bid of $30.00. Guyana Stockfeeds Inc. and Sterling Products Limited had bids of 1,000 ($15.00) and 5,000 ($12.00) shares respectively.
One of the two new companies added to the list of reporting issuers, Property Holdings Inc. offered 5,000 of its shares for trading at a best offer of $6.00, but there were no takers. The other new company listed, Globe Trust and Investment Company Limited, recorded no activity.
