The preliminary inquiry into the death of Yohance Douglas resumed on Tuesday before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen.
The prosecution led by Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Jo Ann Barlow called Oneil King to the stand. King was among those travelling in the car at the time of the incident.
King, a former student of the School of the Nations, recalled the day of the incident during his testimony. The 17-year-old, who was among those who sustained injuries that day, received a single gunshot wound to the right arm.
He was then cross-examined by defence counsel Bernard De Santos. Defence counsel Compton Richardson who was absent at Tuesday’s hearing is set to cross-examine King when the hearing continues on September 9.
The court heard that one Constable Patrick Carter will take the witness stand at the next hearing. Police officers Gerald Alzono and Mahendra Baijnauth were jointly charged on March 28 with the murder of University of Guyana (UG) student Yohance Douglas.
