TWO more witnesses gave evidence yesterday at the continuation of the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against the policemen accused of killing University of Guyana (UG) student Yohance Douglas.

Both the deponents were policemen from ‘Fountain Base’ in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and they testified before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen.

Police Constables Kevin Murray and Wendell Thomas were cross-examined by attorney-at-law Mr. Compton Richardson, who is representing co-accused Gerald Alonzo but also held the brief for Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos, on behalf of the other accused, Mahendra Baijnauth.

Thomas was a member of the Police patrol on the day of the fatal Sheriff Street, Georgetown shooting.

After he answered some questions from Richardson, the PI was adjourned to next Tuesday, October 7, when DeSantos will get to cross-examine the duo.

Baijnauth and Alonzo were charged with the capital offence after the March 1 tragedy.

Baijnauth faces a separate charge of attempting to murder Ronson Gray, another companion of Douglas who was injured while travelling in the same vehicle with Douglas.
