ST JOHN'S, Antigua - (CMC) - Antigua and Barbuda made light work of the West Indies Under-19 side, to win by eight wickets on the Duckworth/Lewis system, in their rain-affected Zone B Red Stripe Bowl cricket limited overs match at the Antigua Recreation Ground yesterday.

The WI U-19s were bowled out for 69 in 24 overs and five balls, after man-of-the-match Kerry Jeremy grabbed three for 16, but off-spinner Anthony Lake was the most successful bowler with four for 19.

Antigua and Barbuda, set a revised target of 50 from 28 overs, got the runs for the loss of two wickets in 9.1 overs.

Jeremy, along with his new-ball partner, Carl Simon, who took two for 17, ripped apart the top-order, to leave the visitors floundering on 28 for five.

Jeremy, bowling with some pace and movement on a lively pitch, hit the stumps of Xavier Marshall with the second ball of the innings, before following up with the key wicket of Lendel Simmons (8), who gloved a lifting delivery to wicketkeeper Ridley Jacobs.

He also dismissed captain Dinesh Ramdin, who steered his first ball after Simmons' dismissal, to Derrick Edwards at gully. Edwards took three catches.

Only Larry Joseph with 16, including three fours and Ravi Rampaul, who made 12 not out, reached double figures after Lake ripped through the middle-order with relative ease.

Edwards, the former national football team striker, then cracked 22 off 19 balls, decorated with two fours and a six, off Rampaul, who peppered the batsmen in his five-over spell with genuine pace.

But Rampaul persevered and bowled Edwards with a full-pitch delivery,

That left the Antiguan on 36 for two, after fast bowler Mervin Matthews had removed Earl Waldron (6), to make it 15 for one.

With 14 runs required, captain Sylvester Joseph (two not out) and all-rounder Wilden Cornwall, unbeaten on 11, saw the Antiguans home without further alarm.

Guyana, who defeated the WI U-19s in their first match, take on the University of the West Indies side, which went under to Barbados today.
