The Private Sector will play a greater role in the Main Street Big Lime, with the Tourism Ministry contributing 50% less than in previous years.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Willet Hamilton, met members of the media yesterday accompanied by Mr. Shafdar Alli, Administrative Assistant at the National Exhibition Centre.
According to the P.S, this year's programme will see a collaborative effort between the Private Sector and the Ministry, unlike other years when the Ministry spearheaded the programme.
The Permanent Secretary identified Ansa Mc Al, Banks DIH and Demerara Distillers Limited as the companies that are on board.
The Main Big Lime is billed for December 28, 2003 from 10:00 hrs to 20: 00hrs and spots are available for those interested in selling.
The Fire Services and Police Force will be on hand in the event of any emergencies.
Representatives of Banks DIH joined the press conference after it had started and the other companies failed to turn up for the press conference.
Promotional Manager from Banks DIH Mortimer Stewart informed the press that the company is hoping to secure three spots to set up the music system and the bar.
The private sector is also expected to be responsible for the cultural aspect of the programme.
