KWEKWE: West Indies tuned up for the imminent one-day series against Zimbabwe with a nine-wicket win over the 'A' team, yesterday.
Set 240 to win in the limited-overs fixture, the tourists reached their target with 11 overs to spare after the early loss of Chris Gayle.
Wavell Hinds (69) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (63) both retired, while Marlon Samuels made 51 not out.
Hinds also starred with the ball, taking four wickets, as Zimbabwe A posted 239-9 in their 50 overs.
Hinds, whose medium pace has brought him nine Test wickets, claimed figures of 4-35.
Local batsman Alester Maregwede made 69 for the hosts, while Barney Rogers chipped in with 54.
The duo's efforts earned them places in Zimbabwe's 14-man squad, which was announced after the game.
But Stuart Carlisle has been dropped after a series of failures in Tests, and his 28 in Kwekwe was not sufficient for a recall.
The first of five one-day internationals takes place in Bulawayo on Saturday.
The tourists won the recent two-Test series 1-0.
