CHEN Deo swung his club brilliantly on the second day of the 2003 Golf Classic, sponsored by Le Meridien Pegasus to take the title at the Lusignan Golf Course, yesterday.

Deo had an excellent day, registering a net total of 59 to add to his first day total of 72. He ended the tournament with a net score of 131 from a handicap of 19.

Raj Sankar finished second with 142 from playing with a handicap of 18 and Patrick Persaud third, who also had net 142, but played with a handicap of eight.

Mike Mangal was the first day winner with a net score of 70, while Sankar had 72 for the second and Deo, also with 72, but in the third spot.

Meanwhile, Christine Sookram, one of the four females that participated in the tournament was adjudged the best female with a score of 140 and a handicap of ten.

Deo won himself two return tickets to New York, compliments of co-sponsors Universal Airlines, while Sankar will spend two nights at Le Meridien Pegasus.

Nitesh Ummat won the first day prize for the player that shot closer to the pin, while Joe Solomon’s was the closest to pin on the second day.

The two-day tournament, which attracted some 40 players, was contested from Saturday. Players also participated from New York and Toronto.

The international hotel indicated that it was hoping to continue supporting the tournament in the coming years.
