Defence continues cross-examination of two policemen

The preliminary inquiry into the death of Yohance Douglas resumed before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen yesterday with the defence continuing cross-examination.
Senior counsel Bernard De Santos cross-examined prosecution witnesses, Kevin Murray and Wendell Thomas. The two were cross-examined by defence counsel Compton Richardson at the last hearing. De Santos was not present on that occasion.
Police constables Murray and Thomas are attached to the Special Task Force, Criminal Investigation Department, Police Headquarters. Thomas was one of the officers on mobile patrol on the day of the alleged shooting.
Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Jo Ann Barlow is appearing in the capacity of prosecutor while De Santos and Richardson are representing the defendants, Mahendra Baijnauth and Gerald Alonzo.
The two police officers were jointly charged on March 28 with the unlawful murder of University of Guyana student, Douglas.
