Grace Kennedy Remittance Services hands out awards to staff, agents

Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (Guyana) Ltd (GKRS), local agent for Western Union Money Transfer, on Saturday presented a number of awards to its staff and to encourage competitiveness among its agents.
A GKRS release noted that awards were also given for excellence in such areas as marketing initiative, business development and long service.
The presentations were made during the company’s 10th anniversary and gala held at Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel.
Those attending included Moira Tamayo-Cole, Vice President, Regional Operations - Western Union International; Douglas Orane, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer - Grace, Kennedy and Company Ltd; Brian Goldson, Chief Operating Officer - Grace, Kennedy Information Services Division and Managing Director, GKRS (Jamaica) Ltd; Michelle Allen, Vice President Regional Markets - GKRS (Jamaica); and Anna Lisa Fraser-Phang, Country Director, GKRS (Guyana) Ltd.
Supervisor of the year went to Doodnauth Singh, the best team was Courts Linden, while the overall customer sales representative of the year was Shaundell Balli. Alison Stephens, Naudia Lachman, Balli and Arshad Allie were customer service representatives of the year for Demerara, Berbice, Central Office and Essequibo respectively.
The 10-year service award went to Sandra Chung while the Business Development Award went to Anand Kumar Matadeen.
Grace, Kennedy Remit-tance Services (Guyana) began operations in January 1993 and was primarily created to bring the services of Western Union money transfer to Guyana, the release noted. So far there are 37 GKRS/Western Union locations across the country, from Corriverton to New Amsterdam, Rosignol to Linden, Essequibo to Bartica and Vreed-en-Hoop as well as the Rupununi Savannahs.
