The preliminary inquiry into the death of Yohance Douglas resumed before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen yesterday.

Prosecution witness Trevor Husbands gave further evidence when defence counsel Bernard De Santos continued cross-examination and prosecutor Jo An Barlow re-examined him. Defence counsel Compton Richardson had cross-examined Husbands on the last occasion.

The prosecution then called Adrin Simone to the stand. Simone gave his evidence in chief and was later cross-examined by Richardson. De Santos declined cross-examination.

Police Corporal Simone is stationed at Army Base Camp Stephenson, Standard Officers Course, Timehri. He was stationed at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eve Leary, attached to Homicide at the time of the alleged shooting incident.

Lance Corporal John Cummings then testified. Richardson cross-examined Cummings. De Santos is set to continue cross-examination when the hearing resumes on October 28.

Cummings is stationed at CID, Eve Leary, attached to Fountain Base. Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Barlow is appearing in the capacity of prosecutor while De Santos and Richardson are representing the defendants.

Police officers Gerald Alonzo and Mahendra Baijnauth were jointly charged on March 28 with the unlawful murder of University of Guyana (UG) student, Douglas.
