A social event and a marketing show billed for London this month are to be utilised to plug Guyana’s tourism industry, and Minister of Tourism Manzoor Nadir, representatives of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the private sector will participate in the two events.
According to a news release from the Government Information Agency (GINA), the social event was scheduled for yesterday while the marketing show dubbed the World Travel Market (WTM) is billed for November 10-13.
GINA said the GTA which is mandated to promote tourism in Guyana made these announcements at a news conference at its Sophia office on Tuesday.
Private sector participation is coming from Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO), Bettencourt’s Limited, Wilderness Explorers, Hotel Tower, Shanklands Resort and several other companies.
Companies are expected to market their individual products and services. And Executive Director of the GTA, Donald Sinclair, said the presence of the Guyana delegation in London would give international operators an opportunity to learn about this country’s natural and cultural tourism. Meetings are planned with international tour operators and a conference with the UK media.
