For a trio of Zimbabwean businessmen, the value of playing a round of golf with the West Indies captain at the Royal Harare Golf Club on Thursday was Zim$1 million.
The three were the highest bidders when the opportunity was put to auction during the West Indies' match against Zimbabwe `A' in Kwekwe to raise money for the annual Harare Mayor's Christmas Fund charity.
"It was a much appreciated gesture by Brian to take the time off to help out in what is a really good cause," Charlie Jodi, a member of the Fund who organised the auction, said.
"At current exchange rates, Zim$1 million might work out to around US$1,000 but I can tell you that, in this country, it is enough to pay school fees for a year for 32 needy children," he added.
The effort was one of several the West Indies team has undertaken in Zimbabwe.
Also in Kwekwe, Lara and Vasbert Drakes donated bats to promising young players in the Midlands region.
